Why Texas Hunting?
|
|
|
Texas has the highest deer population in the United States along with affordable and unlimited hunting licenses, liberal
bag limits, long seasons, and many record book bucks. Texas has also been
the forerunner in game management programs for whitetail deer. All of this
combined with vast private ranches is why so many hunters travel to Texas
in search of that true, "show and tell" buck. |

Why Hunt With Us?
|
|
|
We have been hunting whitetails for 35 years, guiding hunts part-time for
25 years and full-time
for the past 17 years with an annual success rate of 97-100%. All of our whitetail
ranches are professionally managed and have been for many years. Being a
full-time wildlife management firm, as well as a full-time guide service, has
given us an intimate knowledge of those in which we pursue. Our ranches are
large and we only hunt them one to three times during the entire 16 week
season and only at the best times so our clients have the highest success on 4 1/2 year
old bucks and older with trophy antlers.

Hunting Methods
|
|

|
We hunt our whitetails utilizing a variety of methods. Portable tripod stands
over fresh scrapes and travel routes, ground box blinds, elevated tower stands over feeding areas, still hunting, rattling antlers
together, and on occasion out of a high rack 4WD custom hunting rig safari
style. Guides are well seasoned and guide either 1x1 or 1x2. Our routine is to
leave well before daylight for the morning hunt, return for lunch late morning,
and go back out for the evening hunt later in the afternoon. Those who choose to
hunt all day will be accommodated. The rut in our area generally runs from
November 20 through December 10, with a secondary rut starting approximately
December 27.

Weather Conditions
|
|
|
The weather in Texas is always unpredictable so one must be prepared for
anything. The average conditions for the month of November are morning
lows from 35-45 warming up quickly into the 60's or low 70's. Light rains are
possible and winds from 15-25 mph are common with the passage of frequent cold
fronts. December is a more stable weather month with lows from 25-35 and
afternoon highs in the 50's to 60's. Light rain is still possible but the
winds have died down considerably.

Hunter Expectations
|
|
|
You can expect to be treated well, hunted hard, eat so well you gain weight,
warm bed, excellent hunting equipment, experienced, honest, hard working
staff, and a feeling of camaraderie amongst the camp. For those hunting
in the San Angelo area, you will see lots
of game, sometimes as many as 25 different whitetail bucks a day or more. Most bucks
have 16-21 inch spreads with 8 to 12 points and score from 120 B&C
to 150 B&C.
For those hunting the Amarillo area, hunters will see
from 1-5 whitetail bucks per day. Mature whitetail bucks
antlers on this ranch average between 120 B&C to 150 B&C
with a rare buck grossing up to 180 B&C. Muledeer bucks
from this Amarillo ranch average between 20-26 inch inside
spreads, and score
from 155 B&C to 180 B&C with field-dressed weights from
160 lbs. to 215 lbs. There are also
feral hogs, turkeys, bobcats, fox, and javelinas. We expect
our hunters to be honest, safe with firearms at all times, have a positive
mental outlook, willing to hunt hard, and spend as much time in the field
as necessary, a good marksman, and to treat the staff how they wish to
be treated in return.
