Your hosts, Jim and Melony Roche are experienced veterans in the guiding and outdoor industry. Jim is a Commercial Instrument Rated Bush Pilot, "Registered" Alaskan Guide, New Mexico Guide/Outfitter, and veteran Texas Hunting & Fishing Guide/Outfitter of 36 years. His personal hunts have taken him to six countries and seven states. Jim has been on 7 safaris to Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa hunting four of the "Big Five." Jim has made 24 trips to Alaska guiding, hunting and fishing. His personal favorite is guiding brown/grizzly bear hunts. In addition to having a full-time guide service he is also a wildlife manager that manages several private ranches in Texas. While Jim presides as President of Magnum Guide Service, LLC, he still manages to follow his dream by personally guiding many of the hunts each year. Jim is also a certified tropaeologist (scorer) for Trophy Game Records of the World and a volunteer Hunter Education Instructor for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Melony started her hunting career 29 years ago when she met Jim. Since that time she too has traveled to many states and countries in search of trophy game. She has been on 4 safaris to Tanzania and South Africa. She is the Vice President of Magnum Guide Service, LLC and is in charge of managing the office, overseeing the lodges, the chefs and their menus, purchasing of supplies, and she still manages to cook for many of the hunters herself. Melony has worked as an Assistant Guide in Alaska and in New Mexico.
Jim and Melony are actively involved in Adventure in Youth Missions (AIYM), Directors of the AIYM High Adventure Camp in Colorado, Eldorado Bible Club, Prison Ministry, Hunter Education Instructors and serving on World Mission Teams to developing countries like Kenya, Uganda, Peru and Costa Rica. They are also involved with a team of volunteers that take "Jesus and Christmas to the Border" in Del Rio and El Paso areas. They have arranged for meat donated by "Magnum Hunters" to feed the homeless in San Antonio, the hungry in Eldorado, and four (4)orphanages in Mexico. Jim and Melony have hosted hunts for charitable organizations such as; "Hunt of a Lifetime", "United Blood Services", "The American Heart Association", along with many youth hunts, family hunts and dream hunts for terminally ill children. Jim and Melony host an annual Christian Youth Hunter Education weekend to help build a future generation of young christian hunters. They both feel extremely blessed to serve and look forward to participating in future Christian adventures.
